About Adventists
Getting to know the Seventh-day Adventist Church, the church behind our school.
Who Are Seventh-day Adventists?
The Seventh-day Adventist Church is a worldwide Protestant church that holds the Bible as the only basis of faith. At the centre of our faith is Jesus Christ: His life, death, resurrection and promised return.
The church was formally organised on 21 May 1863 in Battle Creek, Michigan, USA, and is now present in almost every country. Beyond its congregations, it runs schools, hospitals, humanitarian work and media to serve the whole person.

Why “Seventh-day Adventist”?
Christian
Followers of Christ. We believe salvation comes only by grace through faith in Jesus.
Adventist
From “advent”, meaning arrival. We look forward to the second coming of Jesus promised in the Bible.
Seventh-day
We keep the Sabbath, the seventh day (Saturday), as a day of rest and worship, following Genesis 2 and the fourth commandment.
The Church's Mission
“To make disciples of Jesus Christ who live as His loving witnesses and proclaim to all people the everlasting gospel of the Three Angels' Messages in preparation for His soon return.”
Matthew 28:18–20; Acts 1:8; Revelation 14:6–1228 Fundamental Beliefs
Adventist beliefs are summarised in 28 Bible-based Fundamental Beliefs, grouped under six themes:
God
The Holy Scriptures, the Trinity, God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.
Humanity
Creation and the nature of humanity, made in the image of God.
Salvation
The great controversy; the life, death and resurrection of Christ; the experience of salvation; and growing in Christ.
The Church
The church, the remnant and its mission, unity in the body of Christ, baptism, the Lord's Supper, spiritual gifts and the gift of prophecy.
Christian Living
The law of God, the Sabbath, stewardship, Christian behaviour, and marriage and the family.
Last Days
Christ's ministry in the heavenly sanctuary, the second coming, death and resurrection, the millennium and the new earth.

Education
One of the largest Christian school systems in the world, from kindergarten to university.
→Health

Adventists in Indonesia and Bali
The Adventist message reached Indonesia in 1900, when Ralph W. Munson began work in Padang, West Sumatra. From there the church grew across the archipelago as Gereja Masehi Advent Hari Ketujuh.
In East Java and Bali, Adventist churches and institutions are served by the East Java Conference. Our school serves together with the Adventist congregations of the Bali District.
